Food Manager certification is intended for managers and supervisors responsible for an operation’s food-safety controls. Food Handler training covers the essential practices employees use when they directly prepare, serve, store, or handle food.
Who should obtain Food Manager certification?
Restaurant managers, chefs, kitchen supervisors, caterers, mobile-food operators, and institutional food-service leaders commonly need manager-level knowledge. Requirements depend on the jurisdiction and type of operation.
How long is the certification valid?
Certification periods can depend on the exam program and local requirements. Your certificate and the applicable regulatory authority are the best sources for its precise expiration date.
What is covered in the manager course?
Core topics include foodborne illness prevention, personal hygiene, time and temperature control, cross-contamination, cleaning and sanitizing, safe receiving and storage, pest prevention, and active managerial control.
Can I take the manager exam online?
Five Stars Food Safety supports on-site online examination proctoring. The exam remains proctored and must follow all testing requirements. A laptop can be reserved at no additional charge when needed.
What happens if I do not pass?
